The Physician Advisor is responsible for conducting case reviews, providing clinical guidance, and collaborating with medical staff to ensure high-quality patient care and efficient use of healthcare services. The role also focuses on improving documentation, facilitating payer interactions, and promoting quality improvement in a hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- • Conduct Case Reviews: Perform comprehensive evaluations of patient cases to ensure proper care levels, length of stay, and resource utilization.
- • Educate Medical Staff: Provide ongoing education to physicians and healthcare professionals on compliance, documentation, and care standards.
- • Collaborate on Patient Care: Work closely with attending physicians and healthcare teams to enhance patient care plans and address quality issues.
- • Facilitate Payer Interactions: Act as a liaison with payers to streamline approvals and address denials effectively.
- • Improve Documentation: Assist in enhancing clinical documentation for precise coding and accurate data representation.
- • Promote Quality Improvement: Identify and address factors impacting patient care quality, safety, and satisfaction.
Required
- • Education: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree.
- • Work Experience: five years of clinical experience.
- • Licensure: Established Florida medical license as a Physician.
- • Certification: Board certified in trained specialty.
- • Proven communication skills.
- • Capable of effectively conveying complex information.
Preferred
- • Work Experience: More than five years of clinical work experience in a hospital setting.
- • One or more years of experience as a Physician Advisor.
- • Certification: Certified Physician Executive (CPE).
- • Exceptional emotional intelligence and advanced communication skills, facilitating effective interactions across diverse groups.
- • Demonstrated experience in leading quality improvement projects and educating healthcare professionals.

The Physician Advisor is a key member of the Health First Hospital Division, responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient use of healthcare services. Primary Accountabilities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree.
- Work Experience: five years of clinical experience.

- Proven communication skills.

- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

- Demonstrated experience in leading quality improvement projects and educating healthcare professionals.
- The majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, stooping.
- Long periods of computer time or at workstation.
- Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
- May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
- Workspace may vary from open to confined.
- May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
