Psychiatrist - Part-Time (20 Hours)

This role combines direct patient psychiatric care with clinical collaboration and mentorship for a team of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners. The psychiatrist will work under the guidance of the Medical Director to support high-quality psychiatric care, clinical best practices, provider development, and interdisciplinary collaboration across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and medication management services for outpatient clients
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Monitor medication effectiveness, side effects, and treatment outcomes
  • Collaborate with therapists
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with organizational, legal, and ethical standards
  • Provide crisis intervention and risk assessments as clinically indicated
  • Provide clinical consultation, mentorship, and support to a team of PMHNP (103 NPs)
  • Assist with complex diagnostic clarification and medication management cases
  • Support evidence-based prescribing practices and clinical quality initiatives
  • Participate in case consultation meetings and peer collaboration discussions
  • Help promote consistency in clinical standards, workflows, and psychiatric best practices
  • Serve as a clinical resource for psychiatric providers regarding treatment planning and patient care concerns
  • Work collaboratively under the direction of the Medical Director
  • Participate in psychiatric department meetings, policy development, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Support organizational growth, provider retention, and clinical excellence initiatives
  • Assist in the development of psychiatric protocols, training materials, and clinical guidance when appropriate
Required
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • Board Certified and or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
  • Active and unrestricted California medical license
  • DEA license and ability to prescribe controlled substances
  • Experience providing outpatient psychiatric medication management
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and collaborative communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
Preferred
  • Experience collaborating with or supervising Advanced Practice Providers (PMHNPs)
  • Experience in community mental health or outpatient behavioral health settings
  • Familiarity with telehealth psychiatric care
  • Interest in leadership, program development, and provider mentorship

Position Overview:


Meridian Counseling is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and clinically skilled Psychiatrist to join our growing behavioral health team. This role combines direct patient psychiatric care with clinical collaboration and mentorship for a team of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs), 103 NP classification nurses governed by AB890.


The Psychiatrist will work closely under the guidance of the Medical Director to support high-quality psychiatric care, clinical best practices, provider development, and interdisciplinary collaboration across the organization. This position offers the opportunity to help shape psychiatric programming within a supportive and mission-driven outpatient mental health practice.


This role also includes the potential for profit-sharing opportunities based on organizational and provider performance.



Responsibilities:


    Direct Patient Care

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and medication management services for outpatient clients
