Provide virtual physician services supporting onsite DFAS Occupational Health Clinics, with medical oversight of nursing staff, development of clinical protocols, and emergency consultation services. The role also includes reviewing abnormal test results, assessing employee functional capacity, and supporting workplace health assessments and occupational health surveillance.
Key Responsibilities
- • Provide virtual physician services supporting the onsite DFAS Occupational Health Clinics, Rome, New York; Indianapolis, Indiana; Columbus, Ohio; and Limestone, Maine
- • Review and develop standing orders for clinic procedures, workflows, and responsibilities including walk-in care, vaccinations/immunizations, health screenings, emergency medical care, and medication administration
- • Provide medical oversight of registered nurse staff with clarification of roles, responsibilities, and risk assignment
- • Respond to and assist with adverse events and emergency issues requiring physician expertise
- • Review abnormal laboratory and diagnostic test results within 48 hours or sooner if immediate need exists
- • Conduct initial and annual review of standing orders for the wellness center
- • Develop clinical protocols for workplace health assessments and occupational health surveillance
- • Provide guidance on health promotion programs and preventive care initiatives
- • Ensure regulatory compliance with occupational health and safety standards
- • Available for phone consultation regarding patient care decisions and emergency situations
- • Assess employee functional capacity and provide return-to-work recommendations
- • Review complex cases involving work-related injuries or illnesses
- • Conduct chart audits and case reviews of nursing duties performed
- • Support the onsite DFAS Occupational Health Clinics
Required
- • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
- • Current, full and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory
- • Minimum 5 years of clinical practice experience
- • Experience with standing orders development and nursing oversight
- • Medical Oversight: Experience supervising nursing staff and developing standing orders
- • Occupational Health: Knowledge of workplace health hazards, injury management, and disability assessment
- • Emergency Medicine: Ability to provide guidance on emergency medical situations and protocols
- • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of OSHA, CDC guidelines, and occupational health regulations
- • Technology: Proficiency with telemedicine platforms and electronic health records
- • Communication: Strong skills for virtual consultation and interdisciplinary collaboration
Preferred
- • Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Occupational Medicine, or Emergency Medicine preferred
- • Occupational medicine, primary care, or emergency medicine experience strongly preferred
- • Government or corporate healthcare experience advantageous
