Provide comprehensive, patient-centered palliative care services across inpatient and outpatient settings, with a focus on symptom management, goals-of-care discussions, and supporting patients and families facing serious illness. Work collaboratively with primary teams and interdisciplinary care teams to optimize patient outcomes and support coordinated care across the continuum.
Key Responsibilities
- • Provide consultative and ongoing palliative care services for patients with serious or life-limiting illnesses
- • Assess and manage complex symptoms including pain, dyspnea, nausea, anxiety, and other distressing conditions
- • Facilitate goals-of-care discussions, advance care planning, and code status conversations with patients and families
- • Collaborate with primary teams, specialists, and interdisciplinary care teams to optimize patient outcomes
- • Participate in inpatient consult services and outpatient clinic coverage, as applicable
- • Provide education to patients, families, and clinical team members regarding palliative care principles
- • Support transitions of care, including hospice referral when appropriate
- • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in accordance with organizational standards
Required
- • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- • Fellowship trained in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
- • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine required
- • Current/eligible Florida medical license
- • DEA license and ability to prescribe controlled substances
- • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-first mindset
- • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment

Baptist Health Medical Group (BHMG), part of Baptist Health South Florida (BHSF), the largest healthcare organization in the South Florida region with medical practices spanning from Key West to Palm Beach, is seeking to employ a Hospice and Palliative Care physician. This physician will provide comprehensive, patient-centered palliative care services across inpatient and outpatient settings, focusing on symptom management, goals-of-care discussions, and supporting patients and families facing serious illness.

- The ideal candidate is committed to delivering high-quality, empathetic care while collaborating closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing, social work, and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure a coordinated continuum of care.
