The Medical Director serves as the clinical leader for Nasson Health Care and works collaboratively with medical and administrative teams to provide comprehensive primary care using the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model. This role combines direct patient care with clinical leadership, quality improvement, provider oversight, and strategic planning to support the organization’s mission and long-term goals.
Key Responsibilities
- • Provide direct clinical services in accordance with the highest standards of medical practice and organizational policies.
- • Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to manage patients with high-risk and complex conditions within an integrated care model.
- • Ensure continuity of care through appropriate referrals, inpatient coordination, and timely follow-up after hospital discharge.
- • Maintain current medical knowledge through continuing education and ongoing professional development.
- • Serve as a clinical resource for physicians, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), and other clinical staff.
- • Lead quality improvement and quality assurance (QI/QA) initiatives in collaboration with the Director of Nasson Health Care.
- • Participate in compliance, risk management, and financial oversight programs to support safe, high-quality, and compliant care delivery.
- • Provide clinical oversight and mentorship for physicians and APPs.
- • Support staff education, provider training, case reviews, and evidence-based clinical learning opportunities.
Required
- • Hold a medical degree from an accredited U.S. medical school
- • Be Board Certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics
- • Possess an unrestricted Maine medical license
- • Hold a current U.S. DEA license
- • Must not have an active exclusion record on the System for Award Management (SAM) website
- • Proof of immunity or vaccination for MMR, Hepatitis B, annual Influenza vaccine, and completion of the COVID-19 primary vaccine series
Preferred
- • Minimum of three years of experience as a Medical Director in a primary care setting
- • Experience with Meaningful Use-certified electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- • Strong understanding of: Evidence-based practice
- • Strong understanding of: Social and behavioral determinants of health
- • Strong understanding of: Population health management
- • Strong understanding of: Integrated medical, behavioral health, and dental care
- • Strong understanding of: Health information technology and Meaningful Use standards
