Academic Hospitalist/Medical Director

This role combines inpatient hospitalist care with resident teaching and leadership responsibilities as a Core Faculty member in an Internal Medicine Residency Program. It also includes administrative and quality-focused work, with collaboration with hospital leadership on quality improvement, patient safety, and operational initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for rounding with residents and participating in resident didactics
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership on quality improvement, patient safety, and operational initiatives
  • Provide patient care with academic and leadership responsibilities
  • Protected administrative time for Medical Director duties Monday to Friday (8AM to 5PM) + 1 weekend a month
Required
  • Board-Certified in Internal Medicine
  • Valid California medical license or ability to obtain one
  • Strong commitment to resident education and academic excellence
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

  • Preferably okay doing procedures but not required
  • Open to J-1 Visa waiver sponsorship (Primary Care shifts required)

Desert Valley in Victorville, CA, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Academic Hospitalist Physician to join our team as a Core Faculty member. This unique role combines patient care with the rewarding opportunity to educate and mentor the next generation of physicians.

Opportunity Highlights

  • Day Shift Hospitalist position with Academic and Leadership responsibilities
  • Medical Director role with additional monthly stipend
  • Board-Certified in Internal Medicine (required)
  • Core Faculty appointment within the Internal Medicine Residency Program

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is between $250,000-275,000. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure
