Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice, Dermatology

This role provides faculty support for the Department of Dermatology’s teaching, research, and patient care needs. It involves direct patient care, participation in teaching activities, scholarly work, and administrative responsibilities supporting residents, students, and hospital services.

Key Responsibilities
  • providing direct patient care including consultative and outpatient services
  • participate in all teaching activities of the division including conferences and lectures, rounds, and house staff supervision
  • advancing clinical knowledge through his/her academic and scholarly efforts
  • advising and evaluating residents and students
  • providing medical direction for Hospital services
  • participating in committee memberships at the departmental and Health System level
Required
  • graduate of an approved medical school
  • have completed an approved residency training program
  • be Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Dermatology
  • have a Texas Medical license without restrictions

JOB DESCRIPTION: 
The purpose of this position is to provide faculty support to meet the teaching, research, and patient care needs of the Department of Dermatology, and assist in fulfilling UTMB’s threefold mission.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • The person in this position will be responsible for providing direct patient care including consultative and outpatient services.
  • The faculty member will participate in all teaching activities of the division including conferences and lectures, rounds, and house staff supervision.
  • Students will include medical students, house staff, nursing students, and allied health students.
  •  This individual will also be responsible for advancing clinical knowledge through his/her academic and scholarly efforts.
  • In addition, the person in this position will have administrative responsibilities including advising and evaluating residents and students, providing medical direction for Hospital services, and participating in committee memberships at the departmental and Health System level. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates should be a graduate of an approved medical school, have completed an approved residency training program, be Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Dermatology, and have a Texas Medical license without restrictions.

Commensurate with experience.
