Duke Health Orthopaedics - Pediatric Physiatrist

Provide comprehensive outpatient pediatric rehabilitation care for children with congenital and acquired neurologic, musculoskeletal, and developmental conditions. The role also involves collaboration with multidisciplinary care teams, mentorship and education of trainees, and contribution to division leadership, clinical program growth, and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive outpatient pediatric rehabilitation care for children with congenital and acquired neurologic, musculoskeletal, and developmental conditions.
  • Manage patients with conditions including cerebral palsy, spina bifida, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, neuromuscular disorders, and other pediatric functional impairments.
  • Collaborate closely with pediatric neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, neurology, therapy services, and multidisciplinary care teams to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Mentor and educate residents, fellows, and medical students, fostering a culture of clinical excellence and continuous learning.
  • Contribute to PM&R Division leadership, clinical program growth, and strategic initiatives aligned with the development of the future NC Children’s Hospital.
Required
  • A mid-career physician with leadership potential.

Preferred
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.

  • Proven experience in teaching, mentorship, or clinical program development within an academic medical center or children’s hospital setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
