Senior Lecturer and Director of Education

Leads MIT-based educational programs for HST by overseeing academic affairs, educational policy, and curriculum development. The role also includes advising and mentoring HST Ph.D. students, advancing strategic educational initiatives, coordinating training programs and grants, overseeing academic budgets, and supporting the growth of HST’s educational mission.

Required
  • MD or PhD in a related field
  • experience in curriculum design, implementation, and assessment
  • at least five years of administrative experience, preferably in academia
  • demonstrated teaching experience and commitment to educational innovation
  • strong leadership, supervisory, relationship-building, organizational, and project management skills, including financial oversight
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • discretion in handling confidential matters
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office, Zoom, and learning new systems (e.g., Canvas, FileMaker, financial platforms)
Preferred
  • Experience in higher education and/or collaborative, cross-institutional academic environments

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: MD or PhD in a related field with experience in curriculum design, implementation, and assessment; at least five years of administrative experience, preferably in academia; demonstrated teaching experience and commitment to educational innovation; strong leadership, supervisory, relationship-building, organizational, and project management skills, including financial oversight; excellent written and verbal communication skills; discretion in handling confidential matters; and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Zoom, and learning new systems (e.g., Canvas, FileMaker, financial platforms). PREFERRED: Experience in higher education and/or collaborative, cross-institutional academic environments. Flexibility to support key programmatic and community events through occasional evening and weekend work (approximately four to six times per year).
