Key Responsibilities

Required
- • Licensed Physician Assistant (NCCPA) or Physician (MD/DO) with current or previous board certification.
- • Completion of an ARC-PA-accredited PA program or LCME-accredited medical school.
- • 7–10 years of clinical experience.
- • Strong foundational medical knowledge and clinical expertise.
- • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.
Preferred
- • Experience working with ECU and/or Brody School of Medicine.
- • Academic and clinical teaching experience.
- • Strong administrative and leadership experience.
- • Doctoral degree (MD/PhD or Clinical Doctorate).
- • Knowledge of current PA practice standards.

East Carolina University (ECU) invites applications for a full-time Principal Faculty – Medical Director position in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. The 27-month master-level PA program is ARC-PA accredited and housed in a state-of-the-art facility on ECU’s Health Science campus. ECU is a major educational and medical hub in Eastern North Carolina and is closely affiliated with ECU Health, Brody School of Medicine, College of Nursing, Laupus Medical Library, and the East Carolina Heart Institute.
Position Overview
This 1.0 FTE role is divided between:
- 0.8 FTE Principal Faculty: Teaching, curriculum development, student assessment, mentoring, and program administration.
- 0.2 FTE Medical Director: Ensuring clinical instruction and supervised practice experiences meet current PA standards and accreditation requirements.
