This faculty role combines the full breadth of Acute Care Surgery in a high-acuity academic trauma center, including trauma surgery, surgical critical care, emergency general surgery, and burn coverage. The position also includes teaching residents and medical students, mentoring PA and NP students, and participating in research, publications, quality improvement, and academic leadership.

- • Licensed Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Texas Medical Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required
- • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required

Clinical Practice
Faculty provide comprehensive care for patients with traumatic injuries and emergency surgical conditions including:
- Blunt and penetrating trauma
- Emergency exploratory laparotomy
- Bowel obstruction
- Acute appendicitis
- Acute cholecystitis
- Necrotizing soft tissue infections
- Surgical ICU management
- Initial burn evaluation
- Burn resuscitation
- Initial debridement
- Escharotomy when indicated
Academic Responsibilities
Faculty members actively participate in:
- Teaching General Surgery residents
- Educating medical students
- Mentoring PA and NP students
