PEM Attending Physician - M89921

Provide direct patient care for pediatric Emergency Medicine patients, while supervising and teaching Emergency Medicine residents, pediatric residents, and medical students. The role also involves participating in quality improvement initiatives, department committees, meetings, educational conferences, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care for pediatric Emergency Medicine patients
  • Supervise and teach Emergency Medicine residents, pediatric residents and medical students
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and department committees
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
  • Participate in department meetings and educational conferences
  • Assist with trauma resuscitations and critical care stabilization
  • Provide consultation to other departments as needed
Required
  • MD or DO degree from accredited institution
  • Board certification in Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Emergency Medicine
  • Current Virginia medical license or ability to obtain
  • Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification
  • Completion of accredited Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Emergency Medicine residency
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an employee at VCU.
Preferred
  • Fellowship training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine
  • Previous academic medical center experience
  • Experience with electronic medical records
  • Research experience or publications
  • Teaching experience with residents and medical students
