This role involves joining a supportive team at a large academic tertiary center, providing medical co-management with multiple surgical services. The position is full-time nights (7 on/14 off, 7pm-7am) and includes performing or supervising patient care services such as history and physicals, diagnosis, daily evaluations, progress notes, discharges, and managing adolescent and adult patients. Additionally, the role includes seeing new admissions and taking transfer center calls to accept referred patients.
Key Responsibilities
- • Medical co-management with multiple surgical services including PVS, CVS, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Urology, etc.
- • Collaborate with other attending physicians and consultants
- • Perform or supervise the performance of patient care services to include: history and physical examination, diagnosis, daily patient evaluation, daily progress notes, discharge evaluation, discharge summaries, and medically manage and treat adolescent and adult patients
- • Perform or supervise seeing new business/admissions
- • Take transfer center calls to accept referred patients from outside hospitals or outside patients
Required
- • Residency training in Internal Medicine
- • Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine
- • Physician licensed in Indiana or eligible for medical licensure in Indiana

Qualifications
(family medicine ineligible due to IUSM Internal Medicine residency program affiliation and training)
- Residency training in Internal Medicine
- Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine
- Physician licensed in Indiana or eligible for medical licensure in Indiana

With 1,000 beds, IU Health Methodist Hospital is a large tertiary referral center with over 130 ICU beds. It serves as the largest trauma center in Indianapolis, as well as a highly subspecialized center for cardiovascular surgery, thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, lung transplantation, and neurocritical care.
IU Health is building a new downtown hospital and campus, which will consolidate operations of the adjacent IU Health Methodist and University Hospitals. Construction for the new hospital is well underway and set to open in late 2027. It will feature three 16-story towers with 864 beds. IU School of Medicine is also constructing a medical education and research building directly east of the new hospital.
