This role provides comprehensive occupational medicine services including fitness for duty evaluations, management of work-related injuries and illnesses, medical surveillance, and after-hours call support. The physician will supervise advanced practice clinicians, support emergency response, and serve as a subject matter expert on medical surveillance and certification programs. At a higher level, the role includes consulting on complex workers' compensation cases, providing toxicological guidance during exposure events, and serving as the designated physician for the Protective Force.

Required
- • Demonstrated leadership experience managing and collaborating with personnel at all levels, including Advanced Practice Clinicians and nurses
- • Commitment to continual learning, team building, resource management, and meeting organizational objectives
- • Recent direct patient care experience, including periodic health surveillance examinations
- • Demonstrated experience reviewing and interpreting diagnostic testing: labs, EKG, PFTs, audiometry, vision testing, and fitness assessments
- • Passion for worker well-being and population health management
- • Proficiency with electronic medical records
- • MD or DO degree
- • Board Certified or Board Eligible (ABMS or ABS); familiarity with occupational medicine
- • 5+ years of recent clinical experience
- • Board Certification in Occupational and Environmental Medicine (American Board of Preventive Medicine)
- • 5+ years of recent occupational medicine experience
- • Ability to obtain a New Mexico medical license
- • Ability to obtain a New Mexico pharmacy and DEA license

Level 3 – Occupational Medicine Physician
Clinical duties include:
Fitness for duty evaluations
Management of work-related injuries and illnesses
After-hours call support
Medical surveillance and certification examinations
Triage of non-occupational health issues
Additional responsibilities include:
Oversight and supervision of Advanced Practice Clinicians
Support of emergency response efforts
Subject matter expert for medical surveillance and certification programs

Level 4 – Occupational Medicine Physician
All Level 3 responsibilities, plus:

Level 4 is eligible for the Incentive Compensation Program (prorated annual distribution based on months in role; must be in eligible position by July 1, remain through September 30).
