Vice President, Medical Affairs - Skeletal (EDG-2025067)

The Vice President, Medical Affairs is a senior leader responsible for shaping and executing the global Medical Affairs strategy across the organization, focusing on scientific communications, evidence generation, stakeholder engagement, and operational excellence. This individual will oversee a growing Medical Affairs organization and serve as a key member of the R&D and senior leadership teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the global Medical Affairs function, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and evolving portfolio needs.
  • Oversee all aspects of scientific communications, including publication strategy, congress planning, and internal/external education.
  • Build and scale the Medical Affairs function, including the development of key capabilities in scientific engagement and field medical strategy.
  • Establish and maintain high-impact relationships with external stakeholders such as KOLs, investigators, healthcare organizations, and patient advocacy groups.
  • Have a deep familiarity with the science of the therapeutic landscape.
  • Lead the development and implementation of scientific platforms, core messaging, and communication tools to support clinical development and commercialization efforts.
  • Partner with Clinical Development, Regulatory, Commercial, and Market Access to support integrated evidence generation, lifecycle planning, and strategic decision-making in a near commercial-environment.
  • Ensure Medical Affairs operations are compliant, efficient, and aligned with global best practices, including oversight of budget, SOPs, and internal governance processes.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing Medical Affairs team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CMO and other senior executives, contributing medical insight to corporate strategy and investor communications.
  • Read, understand, and comply with all workplace health and safety policies; safe work practices; and company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required
  • Advanced degree in medicine or life sciences (MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent) required.
  • 15+ years of progressive Medical Affairs leadership experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Proven track record of senior management/executive-level leadership, including building and scaling medical affairs teams and infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated excellence in medical affairs strategy, scientific communication, publication strategy, and external stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking, with the ability to align medical objectives with broader business goals.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, leadership, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience managing complex budgets, external vendors, and global operational frameworks.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and drive organizational change.

About the Position:

The Vice President, Medical Affairs is a senior leader responsible for shaping and executing the global Medical Affairs strategy across the organization, with a focus on scientific communications, evidence generation, stakeholder engagement, and operational excellence. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the VP provides visionary leadership to cross-functional teams supporting neuromuscular diseases.

This individual will oversee a growing Medical Affairs organization, build out key capabilities and infrastructure, and serve as a key member of the R&D and senior leadership teams. The VP will lead the development of scalable processes to ensure scientific integrity, compliance, and alignment with corporate strategy, while also serving as a visible external-facing leader with KOLs, investigators, and advocacy groups.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a remote position with up to 25% travel.

Salary range: $300,000 - $375,000, title and salary commensurate with experience
