A Family Practice Physician is needed to review and evaluate medical charts for pain management cases, ensuring compliance with state regulations, insurance requirements, and evidence-based practices. The ideal candidate will assess treatment plans and overall patient management to minimize risk.
Key Responsibilities
- • Conduct thorough reviews of patient charts, focusing on pain management protocols and treatment history.
- • Evaluate the appropriateness of opioid and other pain management prescriptions according to best practices and regulatory guidelines.
- • Ensure medical documentation meets state and federal legal requirements, as well as insurance mandates.
- • Identify inconsistencies, red flags, or areas of concern in the treatment of chronic pain patients.
- • Provide recommendations for modifications to treatment plans when necessary, promoting safe and effective pain management.
- • Collaborate with other healthcare providers and specialists to review patient outcomes and optimize care.
- • Ensure compliance with North Carolina's medical board requirements for pain management.
- • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Required
- • MD or DO with board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
- • Active, unrestricted medical license in North Carolina.
- • Knowledge of state and federal guidelines regarding opioid prescribing and pain management (e.g., CDC guidelines).
- • Attention to detail with the ability to spot inconsistencies or potential compliance issues.
- • Strong communication skills for collaborating with other medical professionals.
- • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Preferred
- • Experience in pain management, addiction medicine, or related fields is preferred.
- • Experience with reviewing medical charts or serving in a medical director capacity.
- • Additional certification in pain management or addiction medicine is a plus.
- • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
