About the Position:


The Senior Medical Science Liaison functions as a highly trained, field-based, scientific expert who engages health care professionals to exchange clinical, scientific, and research knowledge. Following regulatory and corporate guidelines, they will facilitate and build scientific relationships and collaborations with the adult Neuromuscular medical/scientific community. This position interacts with local, regional, and national HCPs, societies, and organizations.


Essential Job Duties and Functions:


  • Function as a key point of contact and be responsible for field-based activities for Medical Affairs.
  • Appropriately interact with key thought leaders and healthcare professionals.
  • Represent the company at medical conferences and advocacy events, provide support for conference planning and execution, and provide session summaries.
  • In an accurate, fair, and balanced manner, exchange scientific information with external parties.
  • Intake and manage investigator-initiated research interests.
  • Report field intelligence to the company including competitive information, perspectives about compounds, and the treatment landscape.
  • Provide support to the clinical development and operations teams through site recommendations, site visits, facilitation of communication, and other activities that support patient recruitment.
  • Participate in or lead advisory board meetings at the local, regional, and national level.
  • Provide internal and external training about preclinical science, clinical data, and outcomes.
  • Within guidelines, provide cross-functional support across the company by being a scientific resource.
  • Develop and maintain an advanced level of knowledge about pertinent studies, compounds, and diseases that would facilitate collegiate and scientific discussions with leading neuromuscular thought leaders.
  • Consistently demonstrate a high standard of excellence in the management of assigned territory while contributing to the success of colleagues and the Medical Affairs organization as a whole.
  • Read, understand, and comply with all workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices, and company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Required Education, Experience and Skills:


Education:


  • Accredited doctorate degree in a life-science or basic-science discipline (Pharm.D., D.Sc., D.N.P., Ph.D., or M.D./D.O.)


Experience:


  • A minimum of 4+ years of MSL experience in neuromuscular disease, with an emphasis on adult neuromuscular therapeutic areas such as Becker, Pompe, ALS, LGMD, etc..
  • Demonstrated success managing internal/external stakeholders and leading or influencing cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment including strong teamwork and collaboration.
  • Proven track record of strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to shape and articulate a clear strategy/story.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects concurrently.


Qualifications:


  • Quickly and accurately learn, retain, and present detailed scientific information.
  • Travel frequently (up to 60%), including weekends.
  • Take and follow directions, accept guidance from management, and adjust quickly to changes.
  • Communicate and engage small and large groups in an effective manner.
  • Be a strong individual contributor as well as a valued collaborator on a team.

Salary range: $170,000-$215,000, title and salary commensurate with experience
