Overview
Handshake is recruiting exceptional doctors (M.D. or D.O.) and PhDs in Medicine to join our AI research community. This program brings subject-matter experts together to enhance the capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs) within specialized domains and subdomains. The MOVE program runs year-round, though project availability will vary by domain.
Details
- Remote and asynchronous: work independently from anywhere.
- Flexible hours, approximately 10–20 hours per week depending on the project.
- Projects include developing domain-specific prompts and evaluating LLM responses.
- Research topics that interest you, with AI as a collaborator.
- Gain new skills while contributing to the future of AI across multiple disciplines.
- Placement into a project will depend on availability.
Qualifications
- M.D., D.O., or PhD from a U.S. institution.
- Comfortable working primarily asynchronously in partnership with leading AI labs.
- Confident your expertise can surpass current AI systems in understanding and explaining key concepts in your field.
Selection for each project is limited to a small cohort chosen for their disciplinary and research expertise. We are seeking experts in new research areas to test the limits of the world’s top LLMs’ scientific and language understanding by completing tasks that impact the next frontier of AI models.
This program is open to U.S.-based doctoral students, candidates, and recent graduates with valid work or training authorization (e.g., F-1/OPT, J-1, H-1B). Participants are responsible for ensuring compliance with their visa conditions and confirming eligibility with their program or visa sponsor before participating.
Note: At this time, we cannot accommodate candidates on STEM OPT who require an i-983. Fellows with already approved i-983s, as well as those on pre-grad OPT, CPT, J-1, or H-1B, are not impacted. This policy may change in the future.
