Academic Physician – MD/DO – Cardiologist
We are seeking a Heart Failure Cardiologist to lead inpatient management of cardiogenic shock and advanced heart failure at SSM Health-Saint Louis University Hospital. The role includes developing inpatient shock management protocols and building a shock referral network in an academic setting.
Key Responsibilities
- • Lead the inpatient management of cardiogenic shock and advanced heart failure
- • Develop inpatient shock management protocols
- • Lay the groundwork for a hub-and-spoke shock referral network
- • Focus clinical role on inpatient management of patients with shock and advanced heart failure
- • Conduct outpatient and/or outreach clinics
- • Perform additional imaging responsibilities depending on experience and interest
- • Focus administrative role on protocol development regarding percutaneous mechanical cardiac support and escalation of pharmacologic treatment
- • Possibility of Medical Directorship depending on experience and documented commitment to program development
Required
- • Board certified/board eligible in cardiology
- • Active licenses in Missouri and Illinois states prior to start date
Preferred
- • Subspecialty fellowship training in interventional heart failure or advanced heart failure or interventional cardiology
- • Clinician Scientist track considered for appropriate candidates

Heart Failure/ Shock Cardiologist for an Academic Cardiology Practice in the Saint Louis Metropolitan Area
We are actively seeking qualified candidates for a Heart Failure Cardiologist to lead the inpatient management of cardiogenic shock and advanced heart failure at SSM Health-Saint Louis University Hospital. The successful candidate will develop inpatient shock management protocols in an academic setting and lay the groundwork for a hub-and-spoke shock referral network.
The physicians clinical role will focus on the inpatient management of patients with shock and advanced heart failure. All our physicians have outpatient and/or outreach clinics. Additional imaging responsibilities will depend on the candidates prior experience and interest. The physicians administrative role will focus on protocol development, specifically with regards to percutaneous mechanical cardiac support and escalation of pharmacologic treatment. This role offers the possibility of Medical Directorship depending on the candidates experience and documented commitment to program development.
Preference will be given to candidates with subspecialty fellowship training in interventional heart failure or advanced heart failure or interventional cardiology. Clinician Scientist track will be considered for appropriate candidates. Active licenses in Missouri and Illinois states are expected prior to start date.
