The Vice President, Experimental Medicine – Inflammation Gastroenterology and Rheumatology provides strategic and visionary leadership for early clinical development and global experimental medicine within Gastroenterology and Rheumatology. This role drives innovation and scientific excellence to integrate translational science, influence portfolio decisions, and deliver transformative therapies aligned with corporate objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- • Defines and executes global medical and scientific strategy for the TA
- • Serves as a key decision-maker in governance committees
- • Responsible for timely delivery of early-phase clinical plans; alignment with portfolio strategy
- • Oversees design and conduct of Phase I–IIb, ensuring scientific rigor and regulatory compliance
- • Maintains deep knowledge of emerging science and competitor strategies
- • Oversees alignment of scientific platforms, medical communication, and product optimization plans
- • Reviews and approves protocols, reports, and publications
- • Builds and inspires high-performing global teams, including clinical scientists and physicians
- • Fosters innovation and operational excellence
- • Partners with Research, Safety Science, Clinical Pharmacology, Translational Medicine, Regulatory, and Commercial teams
- • Responsible for effective governance participation; stakeholder satisfaction
- • Leads preliminary clinical evaluations for in-licensing opportunities
- • Represents the organization externally with key opinion leaders and regulatory authorities
Required
- • MD or MD/PhD in relevant medical specialty/Therapeutic Area required
- • Deep understanding of disease biology, clinical trial design, and translational medicine
- • Ability to inspire and lead multidisciplinary teams
- • Strong capability to define and execute long-term vision
- • Excellent ability to influence and engage internal and external stakeholders
- • Familiarity with global drug development and compliance requirements
- • Track record of implementing novel approaches in early clinical development
- • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction
- • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
- • Must be 18 years of age or older
