Assistant Professor, Clinical Faculty Appointment (CFA), Pediatrics

This role involves managing critically ill cancer patients with a primary focus on clinical care in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The faculty member will perform clinical procedures relevant to critically ill pediatric patients and support a research, teaching, and clinical practice environment for trainees and clinical team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Have specific clinical expertise in the management of the critically ill cancer patients.
  • Provide clinical patient care with the majority of the time spent in the PICU.
  • Perform clinical procedures that encompass those pertinent to delivering standard care to the critically ill pediatric patient.
  • Maintain a supportive research, teaching, and clinical practice environment for trainees and clinical team members.
Required
  • Completed an M.D. or DO degree from an accredited medical school or equivalent.
  • Completed residency training in an approved American Pediatric residency program or equivalent.
  • Board certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics or foreign equivalent if applicable.
  • Board certified/eligible in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics or foreign equivalent if applicable or obtain Pediatric Critical Care Medicine board certification within five years of employment.
  • Licensed as a physician in the state of Texas.
  • Ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of critical infrastructure as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code.
Preferred
  • Skills to lead and develop new clinical/translational programs.
  • Demonstrated excellence and extensive clinical training and research accomplishments in the area.
  • Experience with an active fellowship program, faculty participation in COG, a survivorship program, and a vibrant supportive care program.

This Faculty Member In The Division Of Pediatrics Will

This position has a target base salary of $281,677 to $316,453 and is eligible for incentive compensation, comprehensive health, wellness, time off, savings, and retirement benefits, as well as relocation support, as applicable.

The Children's Hospital at MD Anderson evaluates 700-800 new patients and consultations annually, many of whom seek care for aggressive malignancy. Resources abound for significant contributions to understanding pediatric malignancy through interactions both within and outside of pediatrics, strengthening strategic alliances with pharmaceutical companies and promoting interdisciplinary / interdepartmental clinical activities and translational research programs to advance therapies. The candidate should have skills to lead and develop new clinical/translational programs and should have demonstrated excellence and extensive clinical training and research accomplishments in the area. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
