This volunteer role involves virtually interacting with middle school students during Career Day to share professional experiences as a physician. The goal is to inspire students by discussing career paths, education, daily job activities, and personal insights about the profession.
Key Responsibilities
- • Interact virtually with classroom students during Career Day.
- • Present for 30 minutes with up to 3 different groups of students, totaling up to 1.5 hours.
- • Discuss how you ended up in your career or decided on it.
- • Explain the training and education required for your job.
- • Describe your daily activities in the job.
- • Share your favorite and least favorite parts of your job and why.
- • Share any pictures of your worksite or items you create.
- • Allow time for student questions.
Required
- • Good internet connection and computer or device with a camera.
- • Ability to participate virtually from anywhere in the U.S.

The volunteer opportunity below is a request from an educator for you to interact with his or her classroom. The interaction is virtual so as long as you have a good internet connection and computer or device with a camera, you can participate from anywhere. The goal of the interaction is to bring real world application, professional experience and relevance to what the educator is teaching. Once you accept the request for one of the dates proposed by the educator, Nepris will provide support and next steps to help you prepare and make sure you are successful. You can also highlight this experience to strengthen the volunteer section of your LinkedIn profile.

Description
Career day is on Friday, January 30th. It is a day where professionals come and share what they do in a typical day at their job and how they came to be in that particular profession. We are hoping to inspire our students getting ready to enter high school to start thinking about their career path and what classes to take or activities to get involved in to support their goals. We would like our presenters to plan for 30 minutes with 3 different groups of students if possible. So the total timeframe we would need you to be available for 1.5 hours. However if we can only have you for 30 minutes or 60 minutes we can work with that. The first session starts at 8:30am then there is a 5 minute break and the second session starts at 9:10, followed by another 5 minute break then the last session at 9:45.
Our presenters usually cover in their presentations for the students things such as:
How they ended up in their career or decided on it.
What training\education they had to have for their job.
What are their daily activities in the job.
Your favorite parts of your job and why?
Your least favorite parts of your job and why?
Share any pictures you may have of your worksite or items you create.
