Hematology/Oncology Hospitalist

Diagnose and treat cancer in adults using chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, biological therapy, and targeted therapy. Collaborate with the supportive care team and coordinate treatment given by other specialists. Hematology includes diagnosis and treatment of blood disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • In alignment with NCCN guidelines, order and oversee diagnostic testing
  • Prescribe treatment and supportive medications
  • Collaborate with the care team to include palliative care, psychology, social work, PT, OT, Speech, dietician, nursing, research to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Oversee care provided by Advanced Practice Clinicians, as required by provider licensure
  • Participate in process improvement which drives standard of care across the continuum
  • Participation in tumor board(s) is required

  • M.D. or D.O. with fellowship in Medical Oncology and Hematology
  • BC/BE Medical Oncology and Hematology
  • NM Medical License
  • Demonstration of CARES behaviors and the practice of collaborative care
  • 3-5 years minimum experience preferred

Practice Highlights

  • Inpatient Rounding providing consultative care
  • No nights, No weekends
  • Collaborate with Hematology/Oncology care team while managing inpatient services
