Key Responsibilities
- • Contributes to basic and applied research activities and authors scientific publications, technical and agency reports, and patent preparations.
- • Collaborates with senior staff to publish findings in refereed journals.
- • Creates and conducts experiments and analyzes results.

- • Writes extramural proposals with approval from appropriate senior staff.
- • Provides ready access to all experimental data for managing staff.
- • Requests or acquires equipment and supplies for assigned project(s).
- • Uses the Internet, surveys, legal documents, and other available sources to collect information.
- • Applies for grants to continue research and prepares materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations.
- • Adheres to University and unit‐level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
- • Keeps all laboratory equipment in good working order and makes minor repairs.
- • Oversees and collaborates in the development of study tools.
- • Evaluates the availability of resources for research studies and the impact of studies on resources.
- • Assists with the organization of complex laboratory experimental settings, collects, analyzes, and interprets lab results.
- • Develops, implements, and maintains standard operating procedures.
- • Reviews laboratory results and enters results into database.
- • Coordinates trainings of new personnel and monitors performance of procedures.
- • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
- • Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
- • Manages laboratory purchase of inventory, storage and supplies usage.
- • Closely monitors all related purchasing and shipping problems.
- • Prepares reports setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations.
- • Assists in the determination of fiscal requirements and in the preparation of budgetary recommendations.
Required
- • Ph.D., M.D. or other doctoral level degree required
- • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
- • Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
- • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
- • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
