The Head, National Field Medical is a senior leader responsible for shaping and executing the US field medical strategy in oncology across multiple tumor types. This role oversees a team of Medical Science Directors and regional leads to drive launch excellence, scientific engagement, and operational effectiveness, partnering cross-functionally to ensure compliant and effective interactions with healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders.
Key Responsibilities
- • Develop and lead the US field medical strategy for oncology, ensuring alignment with global medical, clinical, and commercialization objectives.
- • Oversee the design, execution, and reporting of field medical activities supporting the first product launch in NSCLC, future launches, and lifecycle management across multiple tumor types.
- • Foster a culture of high performance, collaboration, skills development, and scientific excellence across the field medical team.
- • Build a high-performance, inclusive culture which is action-oriented and grounded in scientific rigor and integrity.
- • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 3-4 Regional leaders and their reporting territory RMSDs, ensuring effective regional coverage and execution of field medical initiatives.
- • Own field talent strategy (hiring, onboarding, competency assessment, coaching, career paths, succession planning, and retention of top talent).
- • Guide the RMSD team in establishing and maintaining relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals (HCPs), and other external stakeholders to support scientific exchange and gather actionable insights.
- • Ensure the team effectively communicates scientific data and information to external stakeholders, representing the company at scientific conferences, meetings, and other events.
- • Establish robust processes for insight generation, synthesis, and dissemination to inform clinical development, market access, and medical strategies.
- • Collaborate with global Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Commercial, and other internal stakeholders to ensure strategic integration and alignment of field medical activities.
- • Partner with therapeutic area leads to develop and implement national and regional KOL and stakeholder engagement strategies.
- • Ensure all field activities comply with regulatory and company policies.
- • Monitor and report on field activities, performance metrics, and outcomes to senior leadership.
- • Participate in the development and adherence to departmental SOPs and ensure all activities are legally compliant and conducted according to company standards.

Required
- • Advanced scientific degree (MD, PharmD, PhD) required.
- • Minimum of 15+ years progressive Medical Affairs experience with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership position overseeing large, geographically dispersed teams.
- • Significant experience in solid tumor oncology including product launches required (recent Lung Cancer experience highly preferred).
- • Proven track record of building and optimizing field medical teams, supporting product launches, and managing through leaders.
- • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- • Exceptional communication/influence and executive presence; roll-up-the-sleeves” leadership style.
- • Demonstrates resilience, composure, and effective decision-making in a dynamic and challenging environment with multiple competing priorities.
- • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
- • Ability to thrive in a matrixed, cross-functional environment.
- • Demonstrated ability to motivate, develop, and retain high-performing teams.
- • Willingness to travel up to 70% as needed

- HARMONi: Phase 3 clinical study which was intended to evaluate ivonescimab combined with chemotherapy compared to placebo plus chemotherapy in patients with EGFR-mutated, locally advanced or metastatic non-squamous NSCLC who were previously treated with a 3rd generation EGFR TKI.
- HARMONi-3: Phase 3 clinical study which is intended to evaluate ivonescimab combined with chemotherapy compared to pembrolizumab combined with chemotherapy in patients with first-line metastatic NSCLC.
- HARMONi-7: Phase 3 clinical study which is intended to evaluate ivonescimab monotherapy compared to pembrolizumab monotherapy in patients with first-line metastatic NSCLC.
- HARMONi-GI3: Phase 3 clinical study intended to evaluate ivonescimab in combination with chemotherapy compared with bevacizumab plus chemotherapy.
Overview Of Role
The Head, National Field Medical (Head) is a senior leader responsible for shaping and executing the US field medical strategy in oncology across multiple tumor types. Overseeing a two-tier field and regional team of 20–30 Medical Science Directors (RMSDs), each leading field engagement within defined US regions, managed by regional leads. This individual will build scalable capabilities to enable launch excellence in a short timeframe and drive scientific and operational effectiveness. Highly action oriented, the Head will partner cross-functionally with Global/US Medical Affairs, Commercial, Clinical Development, Market Access, and other teams to ensure effective, fair, balanced, and compliant interactions with HCPs, KOLs, and decision makers advancing disease and product knowledge and understanding.
