Hospitalist Internal Medicine or Family Practice Physician
The hospitalist will manage a daily census of 20-24 patients shared with an APP, respond to codes with ER support, and provide night call support to a Nocturnist APP. The role involves working in an open ICU environment without performing procedures and collaborating closely with specialists and tele services to ensure continuity of care in a small community hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities
- • Respond to codes with ER support

- • Cover inpatient hospice service with a focus on advance care planning
- • Assist orthopedic surgeons with postoperative medical management
- • Collaborate with tele services (pulmonary/critical care, ID, Neuro)
- • Balance clinic and hospital coverage with sub specialists to limit gaps and expedite progression of care

- Our site is small but mighty. Our hospital consists of a med/surg tele unit as well as an open ICU that predominantly serves as an IMCU. We possess the major specialities, including GI and Urology. We collaborate with a few tele services (pulmonary/critical care, ID, Neuro). Our orthopedic surgery Restore joint replacement program is well known and we assist the surgeons with postoperative medical management. The attendings may cover the inpatient hospice service, which promotes a heavy focus on advance care planning amongst our team as we often provide continuity in this small community. All sub specialists balance clinic and hospital coverage so we depend on our close communication to limit gaps and expedite progression of care.
