This hospital-based OB/GYN Hospitalist position focuses on managing labor and delivery, obstetrical triage, postpartum care, and inpatient gynecologic care with an emphasis on safety, teamwork, and evidence-based medicine. The role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and mentoring residents, students, and nursing staff while providing high-quality, patient-centered inpatient care.
Key Responsibilities
- • Provide direct inpatient obstetric care, including management of labor, deliveries, and postpartum care.
- • Manage obstetrical triage evaluations and admissions.
- • Perform vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and also obstetric procedures, as needed.
- • Respond to obstetrical emergencies.
- • Provide inpatient gynecological consultations and care.
- • Collaborate with OBGYN providers, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient care.
- • Educate and counsel patients regarding women’s health, contraception, pregnancy and wellness.
- • Promote a culture of safety through communication with all team members.
- • Document clinical encounters accurately and efficiently in EPIC.
- • Serves as a clinical resource and mentor for residents, students and nursing staff and supports the academic mission of UUH.

- • Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology
- • NYS license
- • Current OBGYN experience required

Upstate Community Medical, PC is seeking an experienced and motivated OB/GYN Hospitalist Physician (MD/DO) to join our inpatient obstetrics and gynecology team at Upstate Community Hospital. The hospital is part of Upstate University Hospital (UUH), a large academic hospital in Syracuse, NY. This position offers an excellent opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered inpatient care while collaborating closely with residents, advanced practice providers (Certified Nurse Midwives, PAs and NPs), nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Provide direct inpatient obstetric care, including management of labor, deliveries, and postpartum care.
- Manage obstetrical triage evaluations and admissions.
- Perform vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and also obstetric procedures, as needed.
- Respond to obstetrical emergencies.
- Provide inpatient gynecological consultations and care.

- Join a growing team of OBGYN Hospitalist and Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM) providing 24/7 inpatient coverage.
- Work schedule of eight (8) 24-hours shifts per month.
- Support from our affiliated neonatology team with 24/7 support from inhouse neonatology APPs.
