Responsibilities may include teaching in PhD and Masters’ programs, clinical duties if applicable, and developing or collaborating on independent extramurally funded research programs.

Required
- • PhD or equivalent degree in epidemiology or a related field, or a clinical doctorate plus masters-level training in epidemiology or a related field
- • Strong track record of obtaining peer-reviewed federal funding as principal investigator for tenure track candidates
- • Strong track record of collaborative research for clinician educator track candidates
- • Recognition as leaders in their field nationally for associate professor applicants in both tracks
- • Recognition as leaders in their field nationally or internationally for full professor applicants in clinician educator track
- • Recognition as leaders in their field internationally for full professor applicants in tenure track
- • Strong commitment to teaching and mentoring
Successful candidates on the tenure track are expected to have a strong track record of obtaining peer-reviewed federal funding as principal investigator. Successful candidates in the clinician educator track should have a strong track record of collaborative research. Applicants for associate professor in both the clinician educator and tenure track are expected to be recognized as leaders in their field nationally. Applicants for full professor in the clinician educator track are expected to be recognized as leaders in their field nationally or internationally, while applicants for full professor on the tenure track are expected to be recognized as leaders in their field internationally. Rank will be commensurate with experience. Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent degree in epidemiology or a related field, or a clinical doctorate plus masters-level training in epidemiology or a related field.
Teaching responsibilities may include participation in our PhD and Masters’ degree programs. Candidates should therefore have a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include developing an independent, extramurally funded research program and/or serving as a key scientific collaborator in team-based science. Research opportunities may be available in a wide variety of focus areas including disease-focused epidemiology, exposure-focused epidemiology, life stage-focused epidemiology, methods-focused epidemiology, health behavior, healthcare delivery (including implementation research), and health equity.
The Division of Epidemiology includes over 65 full-time faculty with either a primary or secondary appointment who have diverse expertise across many different health-related and methodological areas. Ours is one of three divisions constituting the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics, an integral part of Penn Medicine, one of the nation’s top medical school and academic health systems, with strong links to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, one of the nation’s top children’s hospitals.
