Kalamazoo County Government
This role assists the Director with leadership of the Public Health Department by providing direction to managers and staff, overseeing accreditation, and representing the department on various committees and boards. The position also supports emergency response efforts and serves as acting Director/Public Health Officer when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- • Supervises the work of assigned personnel, including assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
- • Collaborates with the Department Division Chiefs to ensure compliance with all minimum program requirements and prepares for the accreditation reviews.
- • Assists the Director/Health Officer and Finance Director with the department budget, fiscal reporting, annual reports, and strategic planning.
- • Represents HCS on County community committees, initiatives, coalitions, and boards.
- • Provides 24/7-hour support for emergency/bioterrorism events as a part of the Public Health Emergency Response Team.
- • Serves as the Director/Public Health Officer in their absence.
- • Performs related work as required
