Transplant Nephrologist, Clinical Assistant Professor (HS)

The role involves medical management of inpatient and outpatient kidney transplant patients, including performing allograft biopsies and evaluating potential transplant candidates and donors. The position also includes contributing to policy making, participating in the development of a pancreas transplantation program, providing consultative nephrology services, engaging in educational activities, and conducting research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for medical management of inpatient and outpatient kidney transplant patients, including allograft biopsies.
  • Evaluate potential transplant candidates and donors.
  • Contribute actively to policy making for the transplant service and attend transplant-related administrative meetings.
  • Actively participate in the development of a pancreas transplantation program.
  • Render consultative inpatient and outpatient nephrology services and ESRD management.
  • Actively participate in educational activities for the renal division.
  • Actively participate in research.
Required
  • New York State Medical License.
  • Medical Doctor Degree.
  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
  • Board Certified in Nephrology.
  • Completion of Fellowship in Transplant Nephrology in an Accredited UNOS/AST Center.
  • Experience in renal ultrasound and real-time ultrasound-guided kidney biopsies.
  • Experience in pre- and post-operative medical management of the pancreas transplant recipient.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to conduct basic or clinical investigation.

Job Summary

The Department of Transplant Nephrology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Transplant Nephrologist, Clinical Assistant Professor (HS). The successful candidate will:

  • Be responsible for medical management of inpatient and outpatient kidney transplant patients, including allograft biopsies.
