Pediatric Radiologist

The physician evaluates and treats patients in a medical and/or surgical specialty or subspecialty across hospital, inpatient, outpatient, or affiliate practice settings. The role involves diagnosing and treating various conditions, managing complex acute, critical, and chronically ill patients, and collaborating with clinical staff to provide high-quality care. The physician may also supervise trainees and advanced practice providers, participate in professional development, and comply with all relevant regulatory and clinical standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to a panel of patients in the practice.
  • May supervise clinical providers including trainees and advanced practice providers and provide performance feedback in all aspects of clinical functions.
  • Supervise and ensure high quality of all clinical care services provided across a variety of care settings.
  • Continually review current applicable pediatric/adult standards of care and work with leadership team to implement new processes as needed.
  • Respond to clinical alerts and updates from public health officials and others, as needed.
  • Performs therapeutic interventions to stabilize acute and critical health problems.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to patient safety by speaking up about safety issues and changing practice to enhance safety.
  • Shares errors or potential errors through system reporting mechanisms.
  • Demonstrates shared accountability for safe practice.
  • Analyzes the indications, contraindications, risk of complications and cost-benefits of therapeutic interventions.
  • Manages the plan of care through evaluation, modification, and documentation according to the patient’s response to therapy.
  • Manages changes in condition with a focus on optimizing the patient outcomes.
  • Incorporates health promotion, health protection and injury prevention measures into the plan of care within the context of complex acute, critical, and chronic illness.
  • Facilitates the patient’s transitions between and within health care settings.
  • Serves as an educational resource to the patient/family and other clinical staff and providers.
  • Acts as a consultant to multidisciplinary health care team members.
  • Participates in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate educational offerings.
  • Participates in the professional development of others.
  • May act as a preceptor and mentor to support the development of nurses, advanced practice providers, students, and other health care providers.
  • May provide support and leadership for trainee education curriculum and program implementation.
  • May participate in scholarly activities including research and education as applicable.
  • May participate in and/or oversee research activities, as needed, at the practice and provide feedback and consultation for studies as they progress.
  • Delegate operational functions to other support staff as needed to accomplish the research goals and objectives.
  • May assist with administrative management of the hospital, inpatient, outpatient, or community pediatric care office setting.
  • Evaluate and effectively manage patient access, patient flow, quality improvement, staff performance, effective work teams.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of departmental standards, policies, guidelines, and protocols.
  • Other Duties As Assigned.
Required
  • Medical License - in Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and any states practicing in - upon hire
  • Board Certification - Medical Sub/Specialty - within 36 months
  • DEA License - upon hire
  • Doctorate Medicine (MD) or Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
  • Working knowledge of applicable hospital policies, practices and protocols as well as applicable regulations and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and applications.
  • Skills in exercising initiative, judgment, problem solving, decision-making.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining effective relationships with medical and administrative staff, patients and the public.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and electronic).

About the Job
The physician evaluates and treats patients in an applicable medical and/or surgical specialty or subspecialty within a hospital, inpatient, outpatient, or an affiliate practice. Physician documents medical findings in EPIC, provides support to patients, families, and colleagues, and collaborates with office administration, nursing, and other clinical staff. Sees patients to diagnose and/or treat various conditions within the specialty and/or subspecialty. Assesses the complex acute, critical, and chronically ill patients for urgent and emergent conditions. Uses relevant data to evaluate for physiologic instability. Utilizes all available data to formulate a care plan. Orders labs, testing, or medication, as appropriate. May provide supervision and mentorship of trainees and/or advanced practice providers and support the professional development of other clinical staff. Complies with all applicable federal, state, local, legal, regulatory, and clinical standards and requirements including (but not limited to): HIPAA, OSHA, Joint Commission, DOH and CLIA. May represent CHOP with external organizations or professional associations upon request.

    • Analyzes the indications, contraindications, risk of complications and cost-benefits of therapeutic interventions.

SALARY RANGE:

$36,279.00 - $678,760.00 Annually
