Physician-Youth Psychiatrist

Physician provides clinical services for pediatric psychiatry patients, including psychiatric disorders, anxiety, depression, and eating disorders. The role involves collaboration and supervision of mid-level providers, telemedicine involvement, and teaching residents and medical students. The physician diagnoses, counsels, treats patients, and participates in physician governance and management decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical services to patients appropriate for pediatric psychiatry including psychiatric disorders, anxiety, depression, or eating disorders.
  • Collaborate with and supervise mid-level providers.
  • Involve in telemedicine.
  • Teach residents and medical students as appropriate.
  • Obtain history, examine, diagnose, counsel, and treat patients within specialty and experience.
  • Make critical decisions regarding medical care.
  • Work closely and cooperate with management staff.
  • Direct comments and questions to appropriate management person and follow administrative policies.
  • Participate in physician governance meetings and management decisions.
  • Follow policies adopted by Renown Health and its medical staff.
  • Stay abreast of current advances in medicine by reviewing publications, attending in-services, educational meetings, and continuing medical education programs.
Required
  • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Must possess and maintain a current and valid State of Nevada Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) medicine license.
  • Controlled substance License to Prescribe issued by the State of Nevada and Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the DEA, required.
  • Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). If Board Eligible at time of hire, Certification must be obtained within two (2) years of employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to credential through Renown’s Medical Staff and/or payor credentialing, as applicable.
Preferred
  • Prior experience in referenced specialty, preferred.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) highly encouraged.
  • Prefer American Heart Association (AHA) approved certification but will accept online certification from American Red Cross Training Services, Advanced Medical Certification, or ACLS Certification Institute.
Position Purpose

Physician shall provide clinical services to patients who are appropriate for the scope of a pediatric psychiatry including but not limited to psychiatric disorders, anxiety, depression, or eating disorders. Physician will be expected to collaborate with and supervise mid-level providers. Physician can expect to have some involvement with telemedicine. A component of the physician’s time will be allocated to teaching residents and medical students as appropriate.

Nature and Scope

The incumbent obtains history, examines, diagnoses, counsels, and treats patients within the physician’s area of specialty and experience. The incumbent makes critical decisions regarding medical care. The incumbent works closely and in cooperation with the management staff, directs comments and questions to the appropriate management person and follows administrative policies. The incumbent actively participates in physician governance meetings, management decisions, and follows policies adopted by Renown Health and its medical staff. The incumbent stays abreast of current advances in medicine by reviewing recent publications, attending in-services and educational meetings, and attending continuing medical education programs in the appropriate field.

  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulatory rules.
  • Capable of operating business units in conformance with good quality and business practices as may be outlined by agencies such as The Joint Commission, NCQA, MGMA, etc.
  • Effective leadership skills (and leading by example).
  • Ability to obtain results with minimal disruption while involving a variety of internal and external groups.
  • Ability to work independently.

This position does provide patient care.
