Provide clinical and related administrative services while actively participating in academic endeavors. Responsibilities include diagnosing and treating patients, ordering and interpreting tests, prescribing treatments, and supervising APPs. Engage in education, quality initiatives, and research activities as assigned.
Key Responsibilities
- • Provide clinical and related administrative services and actively participate in and contribute to DHC’s academic endeavors.
- • Abide by the Dartmouth Health Bylaws for the Professional Staff and Code of Conduct.
- • Review records and detailed medical history from patient(s).
- • Determine appropriate diagnosis (diagnoses) and treatment plan(s).
- • Determine and order appropriate screening and diagnostic tests and studies.
- • Obtain informed consent for treatment diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and studies.
- • Interpret and evaluate test and study results.
- • Prescribe medications, treatments, and medical devices in accordance within specialty scope of practice and applicable rules and regulations.
- • Initiate referrals to other providers as necessary.
- • Initiate admission/discharge of patients, if applicable.
- • Provide consultation, education, and counseling regarding the management of acute and chronic illnesses and injuries. Encourage behavioral change and assist with self-management skills to improve overall health, within specialty scope of practice.
- • Complete appropriate documentation in a timely manner.
- • Provide patient and family-centered care.
- • Insure the patient’s right to privacy, confidentiality and informed consent.
- • Supervise APP’s as directed.
- • Participate in continuing medical education (CME).
- • Participate in quality and patient safety initiatives.
- • Participate in academic responsibilities assigned by the Department Chair or designee, to include, but are not limited to leading small group resident conferences, training of Residents, teaching medical and other health professional students, participating in clinical trials or other sponsored research, any other Geisel obligations (if any).
- • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required
- • Advanced clinical degree (MD or DO)
- • Post graduate training in residency program
- • Current New Hampshire Medical License
- • Current or eligible for ABMS Board Certification (to be obtained within 5 years)
- • Active hospital staff membership
