Community Pediatrician - Staff Physician for Wilmington Primary Care

Perform direct patient care of pediatric patients including examination, diagnosis, treatment, and preventive health practices. Participate in ongoing educational activities and training of medical students, residents, fellows, faculty, community physicians, and staff. Facilitate effective communication regarding patient care during admission, referral, transfer, or discharge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform direct patient care of pediatric patients within the scope of the medical license, education and experience.
  • Consistently contributes toward the advancement of clinical patient care and improved outcomes.
  • Examine patients to determine presence of disease and to establish preventive health practices.
  • Determine nature and extent of disease or injury, prescribe and administer medications and immunizations.
  • Perform procedures, collect data, analyze data and make decisions regarding patient care, including initial screening, assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, care, reassessment and discontinuation of care.
  • May formulate, maintain, support, monitor and modify a patient-specific plan for care, treatment and rehabilitation based on the patient's assessment.
  • May also plan and coordinate care, treatment and rehabilitation for discharged patients.
  • If a subspecialist, works to establish a local or regional referral base.
  • Participates in ongoing educational activities for continued enhancement of clinical expertise.
  • Provide for the exchange of appropriate patient care and clinical information when patients are admitted, referred, transferred or discharged.
  • Provide data which will contribute to the assessment of a patient's needs, the organization's capability to provide care or treatment and the appropriate level of care.
  • Participates in the training and education of medical students, residents, fellows, faculty, community physicians and/or staff.
  • Attends clinical rounds, medical lectures, grand rounds, and other conferences, as assigned.
Required
  • Doctor of Medicine OR Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine OR equivalent
  • Unrestricted licensed physician
  • Approval/credentialing from CCHMC Medical Staff Services Division
  • 2+ years related experience
Preferred
  • Board certification in pediatrics
  • Adv Cardiovascular Life Support
  • CPR

Job Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine OR Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine OR equivalent

  • Preferred: Board certification in pediatrics
  • Preferred: Adv Cardiovascular Life Support
  • Preferred: CPR
