Electrophysiology Physician

The role involves joining a team of electrophysiologists and nurse practitioners in a busy, progressive practice with a large primary care referral base. The position includes working with dedicated EP staff performing a range of procedures including device implants, Watchman, complex ablations, and Impella devices, within a large hospital system serving a catchment area of 2 million patients. The team collaborates closely and participates in medical education with cardiology fellows assisting in call coverage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with a group of 4 electrophysiologists and 2 nurse practitioners.
  • Collaborate with a skilled pediatric electrophysiologist.
  • Perform all devices, Watchman, complex ablations including epicardial VT ablation, and Impella devices if needed.
  • Participate in medical education with general cardiology fellows who assist in weekday and weekend call coverage.
Required
  • Doctorate
  • Physician Licensed to practice medicine in current state
  • Board certified or board eligible in the appropriate specialty (ies)
  • Obtain and maintain medical staff membership and appropriate privileges
  • Must be eligible as a provider for Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health programs
  • Physician shall meet all qualifications to participate in OSF's programs for professional malpractice and other liability coverage
  • Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the State of Illinois to prescribe narcotics, if applicable

Overview

Position Summary:

  • The OSF Cardiovascular Institute, part of OSF HealthCare, seeks a BC/BE Electrophysiologist to join their team
  • OSF HealthCare consists of 17 hospitals and medical centers, one long-term facility and two colleges of nursing. The cardiovascular service line consists over 55 Cardiologists and surgeons. You will walk into a progressive practice that will be busy from day one with a primary care referral base of 300+ providers.
  • We are group of 4 electrophysiologists and 2 nurse practitioners who work very closely with one another in addition to collaborating with a very skilled pediatric electrophysiologist
  • We have electrophysiology labs with dedicated EP staff who are familiar with performing all devices, Watchman, complex ablations including epicardial VT ablation as well as Impella devices if needed.
  • OSF Medical Center is a 650 bed hospital with approximately 12 feeder hospitals with a catchment area of 2 million patients. Volume is not a problem at our institution and we currently have waiting periods of several months for an atrial fibrillation ablation.
  • OSF was recently ranked by Forbes Magazine as the best employer in the state of Illinois and as number 46 best employer nationally.
  • Moreover, we are actively involved in medical education as we have a general cardiology fellowship. These fellows greatly assist us in weekday call 1 to 2 times a month and weekend call every 4-5 weeks.

    • Full time, clinical base salary pay range for this position: $600,000-$742,187.
      • Range shown should be used as an estimate and can be impacted by many factors including but not limited to the critical need of the position, overall experience and qualifications, community need, and other considerations. Additional compensation components may be applicable such as bonuses or incentives which may or may not be based on metric achievement.
