DIRECTOR OF MEDICAL SERVICES - INPATIENT

This role involves providing day-to-day leadership and management aligned with the organization's mission and core values. The position includes responsibilities such as interviewing, hiring, training employees, directing work assignments, formulating policies related to medical services, overseeing privileging and credentialing, and ensuring quality assessment and performance improvement of medical care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides day to day leadership and management that reflect the adopted mission and core values of the organization.
  • Assumes responsibilities for interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Establishes and approves overall work schedules and determines individual or work group assignments.
  • Formulates policies, programs and procedures related to medical services along with the Medical Services Branch Supervisors.
  • Works with other Clinical Service Division Branch Supervisors for the purpose of meeting FDIHB needs for Medical Services in conjunction with the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Helps oversee privileging and credentialing of the Medical Staff in conjunction with the Chief of Staff.
  • Assumes responsibility for the Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement of Medical Care delivered at FDIHB in conjunction with the Chief Medical Officer and members of the Medical Staff.
  • Develops and implements plans/programs for improvement, expansion and expansion of inpatient care including the Emergency Department, Internal Medicine Department, Obstetrics-Gynecology Department, Pharmacy Department and the Surgery Department to meet changing patient care needs or staffing levels.
  • Assumes responsibility for satisfying Medical Services Branch Department’s requirements in order to maintain the Centers of Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) and another pertinent accreditation.
  • Optimizes and updates best practices in all Medical Service Departments with the Medical Services Branch Supervisors and Revenue Generating Department. This includes formulating and following budgets for day-to-day operations, capital equipment and strategic planning.
  • Serves on a variety of hospital committees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required
  • APPLICANT MUST HAVE A VALID, UNRESTRICTED INSURABLE DRIVER’S LICENSE
  • Three (3) years of clinical experience in chosen specialty
  • Two (2) years of experience in supervising a Hospital Department (or equivalent) including developing and following budgets for day to day operations and capital equipment.
  • Completion of Medical Degree (or D.O)
  • Completion of an accredited residency program.
  • Active, unrestricted Medical License from any U.S. State or Territory.
  • Current, valid, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) License.
  • Board Eligible or Board Certification in respective discipline

Experience

MANDATORY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three (3) years of clinical experience in chosen specialty and
  • Two (2) years of experience in supervising a Hospital Department (or equivalent) including developing and following budgets for day to day operations and capital equipment.

Education

  • Completion of Medical Degree (or D.O)
  • Completion of an accredited residency program.
  • Active, unrestricted Medical License from any U.S. State or Territory.
  • Current, valid, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) License.
  • Board Eligible or Board Certification in respective discipline
