Quality and Patient Safety Specialist - Obstetrics - Full Time - Days - Columbia

Serve as a trusted partner to clinical and operational teams by providing expertise in quality, patient safety, process improvement, and program administration. Develop, implement, and enhance programs to uphold high standards of patient care while acting as a subject matter expert aligned with strategic goals. Analyze data to inform decisions and support quality and patient safety initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consult with internal client groups to guide quality and patient safety initiatives
  • Develop, implement, and enhance programs that uphold the highest standards of patient care
  • Research, collect, and analyze internal and external data to inform decisions
  • Act as a subject matter expert in quality, patient safety, significant event management, and operational priorities aligned with NYP’s strategic goals
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience in a healthcare-related role, ideally within Quality or Performance Improvement
Preferred
  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Clinical licensure (RN, PA, NP, MD, Nurse Midwife, RD, PT/OT, PharmD)
  • Obstetrics clinical experience
  • PMP or Six Sigma/Lean certification
  • Minimum of 3 years of project management experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Strong data analytics capabilities

Quality and Patient Safety Specialist – Obstetrics

Full Time – Days – Columbia

In this pivotal role, you will serve as a trusted partner to clinical and operational teams, providing expertise in quality, patient safety, process improvement, and program administration. You will:

  • Consult with internal client groups to guide quality and patient safety initiatives
  • Develop, implement, and enhance programs that uphold the highest standards of patient care
  • Research, collect, and analyze internal and external data to inform decisions
  • Act as a subject matter expert in quality, patient safety, significant event management, and operational priorities aligned with NYP’s strategic goals

This position operates Monday–Friday and is primarily based at our Columbia campus. Travel may be required to multiple NYP Hospitals depending on assignment and to the Corporate office in Midtown Manhattan for departmental meetings and events.

Preferred Criteria

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Clinical licensure (RN, PA, NP, MD, Nurse Midwife, RD, PT/OT, PharmD)
  • Obstetrics clinical experience
  • PMP or Six Sigma/Lean certification
  • Minimum of 3 years of project management experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Strong data analytics capabilities

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.

NYP will not reimburse for travel expenses.
