This senior physician leadership role provides regional clinical direction across employer-based, occupational health, and workforce wellbeing services. The Clinical Physician Executive supports clinical and operational teams through professional development, administrative support, and advisement of clinical best practices to ensure high-quality, compliant care. The role includes clinical judgment, strategic guidance, compliance oversight, mentoring onsite medical staff, collaboration with safety teams, and leadership in protocol optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- • Provide regional clinical direction across employer-based, occupational health, and workforce wellbeing services
- • Support clinical and operational teams through professional development, administrative support, and advisement of clinical best practices
- • Ensure care delivery aligns with regulatory requirements, employer expectations, and Novant Health’s quality standards
- • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, workers’ compensation guidelines, DOT requirements, and employer health programs
- • Promote employee wellness and injury prevention
- • Serve as a clinical mentor and resource to onsite medical staff
- • Collaborate closely with safety teams
- • Lead protocol optimization to improve workforce health outcomes
- • Support program marketing, product development, and internal and external professional representation
- • Serve as a physician ambassador for Employer Solutions initiatives
- • Maintain both clinical and administrative responsibilities
- • Provide pre-employment exams, workplace injury care, return-to-work evaluations, and DOT physicals
- • Supervise APP providers
- • Build lasting relationships with local employers and industries
Required
- • MD or DO with an active medical license in North Carolina
- • Board eligible or board certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Occupational Medicine
- • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a physician leader
- • Experience in occupational health, urgent care, workplace injury care, employer-based clinics, or workforce wellbeing
- • Ability to obtain Medical Review Officer (MRO) certification within 90 days of hire
- • Ability to obtain Department of Transportation (DOT) certification within 90 days of hire
- • Demonstrated skills in physician governance, negotiation, conflict resolution, dashboard analysis, and executive-level communication

What You'll Do
Position Highlights:
- Full-time, outpatient opportunity with no nights or weekends
- 24 hours/week of clinical care and 16 hours/week of Administrative time
- Provide pre-employment exams, workplace injury care, return-to-work evaluations, and DOT physicals, onsite clinics for employers and supervision of APP providers
