Nocturnist-PD

The Nocturnist evaluates patients referred by the Emergency Department for admission to inpatient or observation status, completes comprehensive history and physical examinations, performs medication reconciliation and orders, and ensures appropriate consultations. The role includes conducting warm handoffs to attending physicians and participating in Patient Experience and Patient Safety programs at the hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate all patients referred by the Emergency Department for admission to inpatient or observation on a nursing unit including their suitability for admission/observation status
  • Complete history and physical examination including all elements required by Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations. H&P to be completed no later than the end of the work shift
  • Complete medication reconciliation, reconciliation of outside problem lists, and admitting orders for all patients admitted to inpatient/observation status including appropriate prophylaxis for deep venous thrombosis
  • Assure that all necessary consultants have been contacted for each admission
  • Perform a warm handoff and sign-out to the attending physician by the end of the shift
  • Participate in all Patient Experience and Patient Safety programs at the hospital
Required
  • Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
  • Those that are board eligible must complete the certification process within 5 years of eligibility
  • Unrestricted New York State License
  • DEA license
  • Must meet all St. Joseph Hospital Medical Staff credentialing requirements
  • Maintain ACLS & BLS

Salary Range

USD $165.00 - USD $190.00 /Hr.
