Key Responsibilities
- • Lead independent research programs in the field of Infectious Diseases
- • Expand the division’s research in epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis/treatment, and disease progression of microorganisms, fungi, bacteria, and/or viral infections
- • Attend UK HealthCare inpatient consult services and ambulatory services for a wide variety of illnesses including bacterial, viral (HIV/AIDS), fungal, and parasitic infections when on service
- • Develop and maintain an extramurally funded, nationally recognized, collaborative research program
- • Contribute to the teaching, advising, and mentoring of infectious diseases fellows, residents, medical students, pharmacy students and other undergraduate and graduate students

Job Summary
The University of Kentucky College of Medicine Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Internal Medicine is currently seeking exceptional tenure-track, regular title series faculty candidates to lead independent research programs in the field of Infectious Diseases.
The practice location will be at the flagship academic health center at Chandler Hospital, the Good Samaritan Hospital and our outpatient clinic at the nearby Bluegrass Care Clinic. The Infectious Disease Division seeks candidates who will expand the division’s research in epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis/treatment, and disease progression of microorganisms, fungi, bacteria, and/or viral infections. If applicable when on service candidates will be responsible for attending UK HealthCare inpatient consult services and ambulatory services for a wide variety of illnesses including bacterial, viral ( HIV / AIDS ), fungal, and parasitic infections. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an extramurally funded, nationally recognized, collaborative research program. The selected candidate will also be expected to contribute to the teaching, advising, and mentoring of infectious diseases fellows, residents, medical students, pharmacy students and other undergraduate and graduate students.
The medical center serves a wide geographic area, treating patients throughout Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, West Virginia, and beyond. The Markey Cancer Center at UK is also the only NCI -designated Cancer Center in Kentucky.
Lexington offers excellent schools, great neighborhoods within walking distance to the University, low cost of living, and is a great place to raise a family, with lots of outdoor activities and a few national parks within driving distance.
Qualified candidates will have an active research portfolio of extramurally funded, rigorous and innovative research in infectious diseases. If candidates are trained as an MD or DO, then they should be board certified/board eligible in Infectious Diseases with strong teaching and clinical skills. Salary and academic rank are competitive and commensurate with experience.
