Senior Manager, Corporate Development and Strategy

The Senior Manager of Corporate Development and Strategy supports the development and execution of Ardelyx’s short- and long-term growth strategies. This role involves identifying and assessing assets for M&A and licensing, working closely with R&D functional leaders across Non-clinical, Clinical, CMC, and Regulatory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Search and Evaluation function to proactively and systemically identify external opportunities aligned with Ardelyx’s therapeutic area strategy, capabilities, and portfolio needs
  • Conduct the scientific, clinical, and regulatory evaluation of external opportunities in partnership with nonclinical, clinical, and regulatory R&D functional leads
  • Lead research with scientific/technical KOL experts to assess technology/platform across indications of interest & competitive pipeline
  • Collaborate closely with Business Development lead to support business case development and execution planning
  • Execute sourcing strategy for BD&L opportunities through proactive monitoring of the external innovation landscape including biotech, academic, and emerging companies to identify areas of strategic interest
  • Read and monitor leading scientific journals (i.e., NEJM, Nature, Science) for emerging technologies, preclinical, and clinical stage assets to identify new BD&L opportunities
  • Attend external partnering and scientific conferences and meetings
Required
  • PhD, MD, PharmD or equivalent advanced degree in life sciences with 3+ years of experience in Search & Evaluation, Business Development, Strategy, or Corporate Development
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex data and insights clearly in effective, concise reports and presentations
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail
  • Collaborative style, with the ability to build and enhance partnership across the organization

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Development and Strategy, the Senior Manager of Corporate Development and Strategy will have a direct impact on the strategic evolution of the company. This individual will have a key role in supporting the development and execution of Ardelyx’s short- and long-term growth strategies. This individual will help to identify and assess assets for M&A and licensing, working closely with R&D functional leaders across Non-clinical, Clinical, CMC, and Regulatory. We are looking for a highly motivated and organized professional who is passionate about making a positive impact on our business, our industry, and, ultimately, our patients.
Responsibilities:
Search and Evaluation 
  • Support the Search and Evaluation function to proactively and systemically identify external opportunities aligned with Ardelyx’s therapeutic area strategy, capabilities, and portfolio needs
  • Conduct the scientific, clinical, and regulatory evaluation of external opportunities in partnership with nonclinical, clinical, and regulatory R&D functional leads
  • Lead research with scientific/technical KOL experts to assess technology/platform across indications of interest & competitive pipeline

Work Environment: 
  • Waltham, MA or Newark, CA office-based
The anticipated annualized base pay range for this full-time position is $139,000-$169,000. Ardelyx utilizes industry data to ensure that our compensation is competitive and aligned with our industry peers. Actual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors, including years of relevant experience, training, qualifications, and internal equity. The compensation package may also include an annual bonus target and equity awards, subject to eligibility and other requirements.
