The staff physician provides primary care to adults following accepted professional standards, including medical evaluation, treatment, and coordination of care. The role involves supervising advance practice providers, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and participating in quality assurance and compliance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- • Provide medical evaluation and treatment of patients based on scientific knowledge.
- • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for each patient.
- • Prescribe appropriate medication, therapy, and/or diagnostic studies as indicated.
- • Ensure appropriate referrals, encouraging continuity of care.
- • Recommend lifestyle changes to improve the quality of life for patients.
- • Follow up and interpret diagnostic test results and inform patients with recommendations for any further steps needed.
- • Participate in the peer review process.
- • Supervise Advance Practice Providers (NP, PA).
- • Provide coverage for other providers who may be unavailable.
- • Collaborate with a team (MA, RN, LPN, RD, pharmacist, social worker, others) to better serve patients.
- • Assist in the coordination and/or supervision of prevention and health maintenance services (e.g., well-adult care, immunizations) for a panel of patients.
- • Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of clinic policies, procedures, and protocols, as needed to achieve Cherry Street Services Inc. goals and objectives.
- • Assist in maintaining the Quality Assurance program.
- • Attend regular internal departmental and organizational meetings discussing progress in meeting clinical program and agency goals.
- • Understand and adhere to CSHS’s compliance standards as they appear in CSHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy.
- • Keep abreast of all pertinent federal, state, and CSHS regulations, laws, and policies, and ensure compliance.
- • Assist in ensuring that staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
- • Assist in the implementation of in-service training programs when needed.
- • Serve as a liaison with the medical community and establish and maintain linkages with external agencies and organizations when appropriate.
- • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required
- • Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Michigan.
- • Board certification or eligibility.
- • Insurable for liability coverage as a primary care physician in Michigan.
- • Remain up-to-date in medical advances through continuing medical education.
- • Basic Life Support/CPR training according to requirements of license and/or certification.
- • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.

- • Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.

Overview Of Position

WORKING CONDITIONS
- The essential functions of this position must be able to be accomplished with or without accommodations.

- Exposure to patient elements through procedures such as vascular access, treatment of minor/major injuries, invasive examinations, lifesaving/CPR procedures, disposal of contaminated waste, cleaning and disinfecting equipment, handling contaminated sharps, and collection of contaminated specimens.
- Frequent lifting, stretching, and other physical exertions during positioning of patients and/or moving equipment.
- Independently mobile with the possibility of climbing stairs.
