La Clínica de La Raza
This role involves providing direct medical care to patients of all ages and backgrounds, managing acute and chronic conditions, preventive services, pediatrics, and prenatal care. The physician leader collaborates with site management to lead quality improvement efforts, supervise clinical staff, and represent the site in medical and community forums.
Key Responsibilities
- • Provides direct medical care to patients from all age groups and a variety of backgrounds, including management of acute and chronic conditions, preventive services, pediatrics and prenatal services.
- • Provides inpatient and after-hours care as required (county and specialty specific).
- • Directs patient care operations and quality assurance related to professional medical and health care services.
- • Serves on a consultative basis to assist the site manager, health educator, and other support staff in the performance of his/her responsibilities.
- • Act as a medical resource for all clinical and non-clinical staff through consultation on the assessment, management and treatment of complicated cases, chart review, co-signing, and case conferences.
- • Lead improvements efforts in clinic flow, patient scheduling and service delivery.
- • Coordinates with the Site Manager to perform administrative responsibilities which include recruitment, orientation, supervision of the clinical staff (physicians, mid-levels, and nurses).
- • Conducts performance evaluations of professional personnel.
- • Develops and revises work procedures to expedite improved levels of delivery of services to patients.
- • Participates in (re)credentialing and privileging of clinical staff.
- • Mentors and supports providers in their daily clinical practice.
- • Represents La Clinica de La Raza and site to the medical community and specific institutions as requested and as necessary, within guidelines provided by the agency.
- • Provides perspective to Chief Medical Officer on any/all issues of concern to the site or agency, including input on strategic planning, clinical operations, program development and grant management.
- • Other duties assigned by supervisor.
Required
- • MD/DO/NO/PA degree from a recognized University
- • Five to seven years of experience working in primary care clinic setting with supervisorial responsibilities.
- • Requires board certification in one of the disciplines listed above. In the absence of a board certification, candidate must be board eligible and become board certified within 2 years of employment.
- • Must hold a current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certificate. You will have 30-day grace period to obtain your certificate from the date of hire.
- • Requires valid California license and DEA.
- • Knowledge and experience with Electronic Health Record programs, such as NextGen or Epic.
- • Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities, including symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.
- • High degree of interpersonal competence with both staff and patients, and thorough knowledge of evidence-based care.
- • Good time management skills and evidence-based approaches to medical care.
- • Cultural competence working in diverse/low-income communities.
- • Ability to deal courteously and effectively with a diverse patient population and maintain good working relationships with professional colleagues and other staff.
- • Ability to work courteously and effectively as a team member to support the established quality and productivity standards established for the clinic; work independently; exercise good judgment; communicate effectively orally and in writing, make and thorough manner with speed and accuracy with minimal supervision.
- • Ability and willingness to work under pressure and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- • Demonstrate flexibility and ability to accept changes gracefully.
- • Ability to work across cultures and demonstrate support of diversity, equity and inclusion.
- • Ability to keep accurate and clear records of patient information.
- • Top-notch time management skills and evidence-based approaches to medical care.
