Medical Science Liaison - Region Nine

The field-based Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with medical professionals and the scientific community, engaging in scientific exchange with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and providing education on Emalex products and relevant disease states. The role supports clinical research initiatives and delivers medical/scientific presentations while covering multiple states.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain professional scientific relationships with KOLs in therapeutic areas of interest to Emalex
  • Develop and implement strategic territory plans that provide needs based, value added support in alignment with departmental goals and objectives
  • Provide field-based medical and scientific support for Emalex products and therapeutic areas to KOLs and other HCPs in accordance with company policies and regulations
  • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of Emalex, its products, and current medical and scientific research and publications in therapeutic areas of interest
  • Deliver company-approved, high-quality medical/scientific presentations to a variety of audiences including KOLs, HCPs, and at times formulary decision-makers
  • Provide support for researchers who are interested in conducting Investigator-Initiated Research (IIR), or who have interest in participating in Emalex-sponsored clinical trials
  • Capture and communicate actionable medical insights to inform internal medical and clinical strategy
  • Provide medical/scientific support for critical Emalex activities including speaker training, advisory boards, and sales training as appropriate
  • Professionally represent Emalex at medical/scientific conferences via medical support, scientific session coverage, reporting field medical intelligence, and development of meeting reports for internal distribution
  • Lead MSL/Medical Affairs projects and initiatives
  • Provide leadership within the MSL team and serve as a mentor to less tenured MSL colleagues
  • Serve as an internal expert/consultant on cross-functional projects
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant documentation of field-based activities in accordance with MSL organization policies/guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required
  • Advanced degree in science-related field (MD, PharmD, PhD or equivalent) is required
  • Neurology/neuroscience knowledge and experience required
  • For MSL, 0-5 years of experience in the in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry or relevant clinical/research experience, preferably as an MSL
  • Strong, current understanding of compliance issues related to the pharmaceutical industry and interactions with HCPs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated acumen in delivering scientific presentations
Preferred
  • Tourette Syndrome or other movement disorder experience preferred but not required
  • For Senior MSL, a minimum of 5 years of MSL experience
  • Demonstrated leadership/mentorship experience and ability to serve as coach, mentor, and role model for other MSLs on the team
  • Ability to successfully execute on field medical responsibilities while working concurrently on medical/scientific projects
  • Established relationships with Key opinion leaders

PRIMARY ROLE:

The field-based Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with medical professionals and other members of the scientific community. The MSL will engage in scientific exchange with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), provide education to healthcare providers (HCPs) on Emalex products and disease states of interest, and support clinical research initiatives. This role will cover the following states - Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, and North Dakota.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The annual base salary for this role is $180,000.00 - $230,000.00 This is a good faith estimate of the pay range for this position and offers will ultimately be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, education, and certifications. As such, final compensation may fall outside of this range. This position will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
