The Vice President, Medical Affairs is a physician leader responsible for establishing and driving strategic direction and priorities to enhance quality, safety, effectiveness, and efficiency of healthcare delivery. This role leads clinical initiatives to improve patient services, quality and safety outcomes, physician alignment, and implements evidence-based programs that deliver exceptional quality, service, and financial results. The role also includes leadership of P3 clinical and IDT teams and oversight of comprehensive care program integrity within the region.
Key Responsibilities
- • Medical oversight of all aspects of clinical care for the organization’s medical group, its IPA network and medical management teams.
- • Leading the organization in advancing its mission to transform the delivery of primary care by partnering with payers and providers to drive improvements in the quality (HEDIS/STAR), clinical documentation, and cost of care for every P3 California and Oregon patient.
- • Developing and managing disease management and other clinical programs to improve patient quality of life and manage healthcare costs.
- • Act as the public facing and trusted representative of P3 to the medical community.
- • Fulfill duties and responsibilities of the Market President in his/her absence.
- • Supervision of assigned staff.
- • Acting president of our IPA (Omni IPA).
Required
- • A minimum of ten years of experience practicing primary care.
- • A minimum of five years practicing in a managed care or population health environment.
- • At least three years of experience in medical leadership.
- • Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited school required.
- • Board certification is required.
- • Must be licensed in Nebraska or obtain a license prior to start date.
Preferred
- • Advanced training in healthcare administration is preferred (e.g., MHA, MBA, MMM, MPH).
The Vice President, Medical Affairs is a physician leader that collaborates with the team to establish and drive the strategic direction and priorities for the Nebraska market. The primary objective will be to enhance the quality, safety, effectiveness, and efficiency of healthcare delivery in our markets. This role will provide leadership in clinical initiatives aimed at improving patient services, quality and safety outcomes, physician alignment, engagement and satisfaction, and implementing evidence-based programs, practices, and activities that deliver exceptional quality, service, and financial results.
During the launch and growth phase of this market, you will lead the P3 clinical and IDT teams. The scope of practice includes clinical quality of care oversight provided by some of the comprehensive care team members: nurse practitioners, medical assistants and have a dotted line to the care manager. You have accountability for the comprehensive care program integrity within your region. Your accountabilities will include, but are not limited to, nurse practitioner quality of care oversight, achieving high risk program and Senior Wellness Center KPI’s which map to patient quality of care, clinical education to team members, and being innovative when solutioning barriers to goals of care. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with the Nurse Practitioner, P3 Care Access 24/7 Manager, having accountability for quality of care and education.
Essential Functions

- Demonstrated ability to resolve complex problems effectively.
- Excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in negotiating and handling conflict resolutions.
- Skilled in training and educating staff at all levels, including executives and providers, and demonstrating effective collaboration skills.
- Knowledgeable of contemporary practice issues within medicine and experienced in outcomes measurement of clinical quality and utilization.
- Familiarity with all aspects of medical group operations.
- Strong leadership qualities, effective communication skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement in healthcare delivery. The ability to adapt to a dynamic and rapidly evolving healthcare environment is essential.

Salary Range: $275,000 - $300,000 based on experience
