The hospitalist will provide high-quality inpatient care, managing clinical needs of admitted patients and supporting surgical and specialty services through consultative internal medicine. The role involves participation in collaborative, team-based care and managing patient conditions in an acute care setting.
Key Responsibilities
- • Perform comprehensive histories, physicals, and ongoing assessments of patients in the acute care setting.
- • Diagnose, manage, and actively treat a variety of patient conditions, ensuring continuity of daily care.
- • Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary rounds.
- • Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic studies and laboratory results.
- • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (e.g., suturing, wound care, I&D, splinting).
- • Prescribe and manage pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, including controlled substances.
- • Collaborate with specialty and primary care physicians for consults and coordinated care.
- • Ensure efficient use of resources while adhering to clinical pathways and best practices.
- • Arrange timely referrals and transfers to tertiary facilities as clinically indicated.
Required
- • MD or DO degree
- • Completion of residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
- • Board Certified/Board Eligible (IM or FM)
- • Active and unrestricted Florida medical license (or ability to obtain)
- • DEA license (active or eligible)
