Medical Science Liaison

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a field-facing representative of US Scientific/Medical Affairs, engaging in the exchange of medical and scientific information with external customers in therapeutic areas relevant to Ray Therapeutics. The role involves developing trusted relationships with key opinion leaders, presenting clinical data, gathering medical insights, and supporting Medical Affairs strategic plans within assigned territories.

Key Responsibilities
  • Initiate and develop value-based, trusted professional relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and clinical investigators by engaging in meaningful scientific exchange of information.
  • Serve as a scientific resource to the healthcare community by responding to unsolicited requests for information on Ray Therapeutics products.
  • Present key clinical and outcomes data on products and relevant therapeutic areas to healthcare decision-makers.
  • Identify and communicate key medical and research insights gathered in the field to various internal stakeholders to inform current and future strategy.
  • Develop and implement plans within assigned geography to support Medical Affairs strategic direction and medical plans.
  • Maintain and demonstrate thorough and up-to-date knowledge of disease state, study methodology, clinical information, scientific developments and product data in therapeutic areas of interest.
  • Contribute to Clinical Operations activities via investigator and other site personnel education and identification of successful research sites.
  • Facilitate review of submitted Investigator-Initiated Studies (IISs) and help assure progress to study goals.
  • Serve as a scientific subject matter resource to various internal personnel and assist with internal training.
  • Maintain effective and appropriate communication with internal stakeholders while maintaining compliance with relevant company and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with field- based commercial personnel as appropriate and in a compliant manner.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the healthcare landscape within given geography.
Required
  • Minimum of an Advanced Degree with a minimum of 3 years of related pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience.
  • MD, PhD, Psych D, Pharm D preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of and related areas in degenerative retinol diseases, ophthalmology and gene therapy.
  • Strong broad-based scientific and pharmaceutical knowledge.
  • Clear understanding of medical practice, clinical decision making, and healthcare systems related to patient care.
  • Ability to interpret key scientific data and translate the information to meet educational and research needs.
  • Superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills – including presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detailed understanding of regulatory and professional guidelines associated with the dissemination of medical information and continuing medical education.
  • Possession of basic business acumen, business planning, and project management skills to facilitate implementation and execution of personal, departmental, regional and company objectives.
  • Ability to formulate, initiate, lead and delegate tasks in order to achieve target objectives.
  • Willing and able to travel domestically up to 75% of the time initially but will reduce to 50% over time, including overnight travel as business needs require.
  • International travel may be required on an ad-hoc basis.

Reporting to the Chief Medical & Scientific Officer, the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-facing representative of US Scientific/Medical Affairs with a primary responsibility of engaging in the exchange of medical and scientific information with external customers (key opinion leaders, other health care providers, researchers, and healthcare decision makers) in the therapeutic areas of interest to Ray Therapeutics. The person in this position will demonstrate a thorough understanding of all relevant disease states, customer needs, and priorities as they relate to Ray Therapeutics strategic business plan and the dynamic healthcare landscape.


We are currently searching for 3 experienced professionals to join our team as a

Medical Science Liaison (MSL) in the following territories:

  • Eastern Territory (ID 1009)
  • Midwest Territory (ID 1010)
  • Western Territory (ID 1011)

Compensation Range and Benefits:

  • For this role, the anticipated base salary range: $170,000 to $215,000, based on the candidate's professional experience level. The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to skills, education, and experience.
  • Ray Therapeutics also offers annual performance-based bonus, annual equity awards and a comprehensive benefits package.
