The Infectious Disease Physician serves as a consultant to other physicians for patients with infectious diseases in outpatient and/or hospital settings. The role involves expert history taking, physical examination, test interpretation, patient counseling, differential diagnosis, and medical therapeutics, with accountability for effective delivery of care and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- • Serve as a consultant to other physicians for patients with infectious diseases in an outpatient and/or hospital setting.
- • Expert in history taking, physical examination, test interpretation, patient counseling and differential diagnosis and medical therapeutics.
- • Assure the most effective delivery of care while meeting and exceeding compliance standards.
- • Responsible for overall conduct of Infectious Disease diagnosis and treatment of patient related issues in the outpatient setting.
- • Supervise and manage patients transitioning from hospital to outpatient care where appropriate.
- • Initiate and supervise home IV therapies.
- • Participate in antibiotic stewardship in conjunction with P&T committee.
- • Provide continuity outpatient clinics.
- • Engage in virtual health as pertains to Infectious Diseases including availability for telephone and E-consults during regular business hours, virtual visits, telephone consults, virtual consults, and video curbside consults.
- • Perform indirect patient care such as returning telephone calls, responding to patient emails, reviewing and renewing prescriptions, reviewing laboratory and imaging data, communicating results to patients, and implementing improved quality in systems delivery.
- • Supervise ID purchased services.
- • Educate clinical staff regarding infectious disease diagnosis and treatment.
- • Serve as liaison with Wound Care.
- • Serve as liaison with Medical Director of Hospital Services.
- • Participate in regular meetings with Associate Medical Directors.
- • Maintain office hours to meet demand with time and location to be determined.
Required
- • American Board of Internal Medicine or Internal Medicine and Pediatrics
- • BC Infectious Disease
- • Current DEA certification
- • Unrestricted Texas medical license

Required Qualifications
- American Board of Internal Medicine or Internal Medicine and Pediatrics
- BC Infectious Disease
- Current DEA certification
