SVP Regional Chief Clinical Officer - Anesthesia

The Senior Vice President (SVP) provides executive leadership and operational oversight for Anesthesia clinical operations, managing regional profit, loss, and service delivery. This role focuses on building strong relationships with hospital partners and clinical teams to drive healthcare quality and operational efficiency while collaborating closely with various internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Owns and manages P&L, ensuring profitability and financial sustainability within the region
  • Evaluates and optimizes provider compensation models and staffing coverage
  • Leads the creation and management of regional operating budgets, aligning financial planning with strategic goals
  • Reviews financial performance reports and forecasts trends to inform strategic decisions
  • Participates in negotiating hospital contracts, ensuring favorable terms and sustainable margins
  • Builds strong strategic partnerships with hospitals, health systems, and other healthcare organizations
  • Builds and sustains strong, collaborative relationships with hospital executives, Envision leadership, and clinical teams
  • Develops and drives client retention strategies
  • Serves as a clinical ambassador for the organization in external forums, conferences, and client engagements
  • Develops and drives regional strategic initiatives conducive to a high standard of patient care in support of organizational goals
  • Partners with hospital clients and internal stakeholders to enhance quality of care and operational performance
  • Hosts regular meetings with hospital administration and Regional Medical Directors to align on goals and performance
  • Partners with clinical support services teams to develop high standards of patient care; to coordinate work flow between the anesthetizing locations and other ancillary departments; and to assist in the in-service training of department personnel as needed
  • Builds and maintains strong recruiting relationships, partnering to drive recruiting strategy and as needed assist in recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts of clinicians ensuring clinician staffing models align with patient volume and acuity to ensure adequate coverage and productivity
  • Identifies and partners with the sales team to execute on opportunities for service line growth, geographic expansion, and/or new partnerships assessing feasibility and alignment with clinical capabilities
  • Provides clinical leadership in the development of RFP responses
  • Promotes the organization’s value proposition to potential partners and stakeholders
  • Oversees smooth onboarding and integration of new contracts, including orientation of new Medical Directors and clinicians
  • Reviews and recommends updates to clinical protocols and operational policies affecting the delivery of services
  • Supports Regional Medical Directors in partnership with internal support teams in evaluating and improving clinical quality, compliance, and patient safety
  • Partners with support teams on documentation, compliance, and adherence to federal, state, and local regulations within the region
  • Participates in risk management reviews and quality improvement initiatives as needed
  • Leads the growth and development of Regional Medical Directors, providing mentorship, coaching, and performance feedback preparing them for broader leadership roles
  • Facilitates coaching, communication and alignment through regular meetings and leadership forums
  • Establishes clear performance expectations for clinical leaders
  • Promotes physician engagement through transparent communication, recognition, and inclusion in decision-making
  • Supports the onboarding process for new regional medical directors, ensuring alignment with organizational values and expectations
  • Supports Regional Medical Directors in managing team dynamics and addressing provider concerns
  • Serves as a resource for resolving interpersonal or performance-related issues amongst clinical staff
Required
  • Physician, MD/DO Medical License
  • At least 10 years’ experience in physician practice management or healthcare management with extensive physician interface at a multi-site level

This physician leader is accountable for regional oversight of profit, loss and delivery of services, ensuring financial performance, clinical quality, and strategic alignment across assigned contracts. Builds and maintains strong relationships with hospital partners, clinical leaders, and frontline clinicians, fostering collaboration and trust. Partners with Envision teams and hospital clients to drive improvements in healthcare quality and operational efficiency. This role requires close collaboration with Operations, Clinical Services, Regional and Site Medical Directors, and hospital administrative teams

Qualifications

  • Physician, MD/DO Medical License
  • At least 10 years’ experience in physician practice management or healthcare management with extensive physician interface at a multi-site level.

Education/Experience

  • Master’s Degree in health-related field strongly preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
