Hospitalists participate in a structured rounding program averaging 15.6 shifts per month with 10-hour shifts and an average census of 14-16 patients. The role includes a mix of rounding, day admit, swing admit, and night admit shifts, with opportunities for teaching and working within geographic zones supported by robust sub-specialty teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Rounding with an average census of 14-16 patients during 10-hour shifts
  • Admitting patients during staggered 10-hour shifts including day, swing, and night admits
  • Participating in geographic zones, morning huddles, and multidisciplinary rounds (MDR)
  • Responding to rapid response team (RRT) calls as run by Hospitalists
  • Collaborating with ICU and ER teams who run codes
  • Engaging in teaching opportunities
  • Working up to 3 swing and 3 night shifts per month
  • Rotating teams regularly and scheduling rounding in 5–7-day blocks
Required
  • MD or DO degree (or equivalent medical degree) from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an accredited residency in Internal Medicine and board certification or board-eligibility in Internal Medicine at time of hire or Family Medicine with 2 years of direct experience
  • Valid medical licensure in the State of California (or eligibility to obtain it) prior to starting
  • Unrestricted DEA

Sutter Medical Group (SMG) seeks to hire Hospitalists to join their established Hospitalist Program in Roseville, CA.

Rounding Structure

  • 15.6 shifts per month (avg)
  • 10-hr rounding with an average census of 14-16
    • 7a - 5p
    • Additional admissions based on clinician preference
Admitting Structure

  • 10-hr shifts staggered throughout the day:
    • Day Admit: 7a - 5p
    • Swing Admit: 11a - 9p, 1p - 11p, 3p - 1a
    • Night Admit: 6p - 6a, 7p - 7a
Additional Info

Scheduling

  • Rounding is scheduled in 5–7-day blocks; can be longer or shorter if preferred
  • Physicians rotate Teams (i.e. geographic location) regularly

Full-time annual compensation is $323,930+ bonuses and differentials.
